Private Investigators are independent civilian investigators hired by individuals, businesses, attorneys, and government agencies to investigate civil or criminal matters, locate an individual, conduct a background check, conduct research, or conduct surveillance to name just a few.
When hiring a private investigator you should take into consideration several factors. Make sure the private investigator has several years of experience. Often times a private investigator has the experience of being a retired police officer. Research their background if they have a website. Next, make sure the private investigator is licensed by the state in which you need the work to be done. Make sure the investigator is bonded or insured. Lastly, check their reviews on Google and/or Yelp.
It all depends on the nature of the investigation and the investigator's experience and expertise. A simple basic background check through a database is less expensive than a comprehensive background which requires the investigator to go out in the field. Most investigators will charge between $80 and $150 per hour, but again it all depends on the nature and complexity of the investigation and the investigator's experience and expertise. Often times private investigators will help the client by offering a flat rate based upon their needs.
The advantage of hiring a private investigator is you are paying for their experience and the tools they have access to. A private investigator has access to databases that only private investigators, law enforcement and attorneys are privy to. They are able to conduct surveillance in a manner in which they are not detected. They also have the ability to navigate through complex matters and provide invaluable insight based upon their experience. It is well worth the money as they are able to provide you with information that you would not be able to gain on your own.
At White Tank Investigations we start by conducting a free 30-minute consultation in which the potential client explains their needs. We share how we can assist and provide an estimated overall cost and time frame for the investigation to be completed. If you choose to hire White Tank Investigations, we collect a retainer or a flat fee if applicable, sign a contract to protect the client and White Tank Investigations and then we get to work.
There are a few options. We mostly commonly use Square which you will often see in retail businesses at the cash register. We of course don't use a cash register, so we e mail you an invoice. Through that invoice you have the ability to pay by credit card, debt card, and gift card. We also accept Venmo and cash. We do not accept personal checks.
Our basic background investigation is often used as a pre-employment screening, general assessment on a neighbor, colleague, friend or potential significant other. It is also used for a potential tenant for your rental property. The following information is provided: Name and aliases, date of birth, current and past addresses, possibly traffic and criminal records depending on the state in which the violations occurred, judgements, liens, bankruptcies, sex offender registry, global terrorist listing, relatives and acquaintances, licenses, business affiliations, and property ownership.
Our comprehensive backgrounds start with the basic background. Then it is followed up by confirming firsthand the information provided in the basic background, contacting references, neighbors, co-workers' relatives and acquaintances.
It is clearly a good practice to conduct, at minimum, a basic background check on a potential employee. The information provided to you helps you make smarter hiring decisions. It can possibly help you avoid harm or legal liability by hiring someone with a checkered past.
A skip trace, also known as a locate, is an investigation in which we track down an individual. This can be done to find a long-lost friend or acquaintance, or an estranged relative. Often times a person desires to connect with their biological parent or sibling. Skip traces are also done to locate someone who has "skipped town" so to speak. Maybe someone owes you money or has defaulted on a loan. Often times law firms will need a skip trace done to find a witness that needs to be interviewed or testify.
We strongly suggest you do your due diligence and have us conduct a basic background check on your potential date. You NEVER know what is in a person's past even if they look like the sweetest thing on the face of the earth.
